Varanasi Iftar Row: 14 Arrested for Allegedly Throwing Chicken Biryani in Ganga River

A shocking case has emerged from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, where a controversy erupted after a video of some Muslim youths having Iftar on a boat went viral on social media. Following the viral video, the police immediately took action and arrested all 14 accused.

In this matter, Rajat Jaiswal, the Mahanagar President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, had submitted a written complaint to the Kotwali police station. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against the accused and ensured their arrest. Jaiswal had demanded the speedy arrest of the accused, which led to strict action by the police.

The Iftar video that went viral in Varanasi caused a stir. The accused shared the video made during Iftar on social media, which sparked controversy. Subsequently, the BJP leader filed a complaint with the police against some unknown persons. The police initiated an investigation based on the complaint.

It is reported that 14 accused had Iftar sitting on a boat in the Ganga river. It is alleged that the bones of chicken biryani eaten during Iftar were thrown into the Ganga. This act is being viewed as the desecration of the holy Ganga and an emotional insult to Hinduism.

Varanasi police have registered a case against the accused under several sections. Action has been taken under Section 295A (deliberate acts intended to outrage religious feelings) and other sections, as well as a case registered under the Water Pollution Prevention Act.

The complainant states that Mother Ganga is extremely sacred to the followers of Sanatan Dharma. People from all over the world come for her blessings and worship. It is alleged that some people deliberately tried to hurt religious sentiments by throwing meat into her lap. After this incident, outrage spread among several Hindu organizations, and all have expressed their displeasure.
