Amaravati has been officially declared as the permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan shared this information through their X (X) handles.
Posting the notification, CM Naidu clearly wrote, “Amaravati is the capital of Andhra Pradesh.” This decision comes after the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act Amendment Bill 2026 was recently passed by both houses of Parliament in the budget session.
‘Dream of Capital Comes True’
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his gratitude to President Droupadi Murmu, stating that with the approval of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization (Amendment) Act, 2026, the long-cherished dream of the state’s capital has been fulfilled. He also thanked the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their support and guidance in the state’s development.
New Direction for Amaravati’s Development
This decision by the Naidu government is considered an important step for the development of Amaravati. At the time of Andhra Pradesh’s bifurcation, it was planned to make it the administrative and political center of the state. Now it has become clear that the state will have only one capital, and that will remain Amaravati, which is expected to accelerate administrative arrangements and development works.
