Gold Smuggling Busted at Bengaluru Airport, 5 Accused Arrested

A major case of gold smuggling has been unearthed at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) took action, exposed a large racket, and arrested five accused. Approximately 5 crore rupees worth of gold, including capsules and biscuits, was recovered from them.

Investigations revealed that smugglers had concealed the gold in the form of paste and capsules. To avoid being caught, it was being brought hidden in private parts of the body. According to officials, this gold was brought into the city via Bangladesh.

Apprehension of large network, investigation ongoing

All five accused arrested from the airport are being interrogated. Officials suspect that a large network is operating behind this smuggling, and the investigation is ongoing. It is worth noting that several gold smuggling cases have surfaced at Bengaluru Airport before, and DRI and police are continuously keeping an eye on these matters.

Major case revealed before

It is noteworthy that even in the year 2025, DRI had recovered about 14.2 kg of gold, valued at approximately 12.56 crore rupees, from a Kannada actress in a high-profile case.
