Middle East Peace Efforts Intensify: Iran-US Talks Progress, Israel-Lebanon Dialogue Approved

Efforts to reduce tension between Iran and the United States have intensified. Negotiators from both countries are preparing in Islamabad on Friday for high-level talks set to begin on Saturday. The objective of these talks is to stabilize the existing ceasefire, which is being affected by the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah and tensions over the Strait of Hormuz.

US Vice President J.D. Vance is expected to depart from Washington, while Iran has not yet shared any information regarding its team.

On the other hand, Iran has pressured the US, stating that it should compel Israel to cease attacks in Lebanon. Meanwhile, signs of progress in ceasefire talks have emerged after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved dialogue with Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the IDF claims that Hezbollah has appealed to Israel for a ceasefire.

According to the semi-official Tasnim News Agency, affiliated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC), talks could be “suspended” if the agreed-upon conditions are not met.

Meanwhile, Kuwait has alleged a drone attack in its territory on Thursday night, for which it blamed Iran and regional militias. Although Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has denied any involvement, it has previously been accused of involvement in several attacks in the Middle East, for which it has not claimed responsibility.

Furthermore, alongside the Iran-US talks, Israel-Lebanon dialogue is also expected to commence next week at the State Department in Washington. This step is believed to advance ceasefire efforts in the region. This information was shared by a US official and a person familiar with the matter, on condition of anonymity.
