KKR’s Big Mistake! 25 Crores Spent on 26-Year-Old, Team Suffers Loss

Cameron Green Flop: In the IPL 2026 mini-auction, KKR acquired Australia’s star all-rounder Cameron Green for a whopping 25.20 crore rupees. The team management had high expectations of spectacular performance from him with both bat and ball.

However, Green’s performance in the first three matches of the season has been disappointing. Looking at his game, it now seems that KKR’s expensive bet might prove wrong for the team.

Cameron Green Proving to be a Flop with the Bat

Since the start of this season, Cameron Green has been unable to bowl due to injury, and his batting performance has also been disappointing. His continuous failures are increasing KKR’s troubles. Even in the match against Punjab Kings, he couldn’t do anything special—after hitting a four on the first ball, Xavier Bartlett dismissed him on the very next delivery.

Just 24 Runs in Three Matches

KKR played its first match this season against Mumbai Indians, in which Green scored 18 runs. After that, against Hyderabad, he was out after scoring just 2 runs. In the match against Punjab Kings, he scored 4 runs off 2 balls. This means that he has only scored a total of 24 runs from his bat in three matches and has not been able to play a single big innings.

However, looking at his previous IPL record, Green has so far scored 731 runs at an average of 36.55 in 31 innings across 32 matches, which includes one century and two half-centuries.

Why is Cameron Green not bowling?
Cameron Green not bowling has affected the team balance of Kolkata Knight Riders. Captain Ajinkya Rahane himself has admitted that this has impacted the team combination.

Actually, Cricket Australia, keeping Green’s workload management in mind, has not allowed him to bowl in the initial matches of IPL 2026. Currently, it is not clear when he will start bowling. In such a scenario, Green will be under pressure to perform better with the bat in the upcoming matches.
