Instagram launches Take a break feature in India, know what will change

Instagram wants to make its platform a safe place for kids. The Meta-owned company has launched the "Take a Break" feature in India ahead of Secure Internet Day 2022. This feature has been started in all countries including India. As the name suggests, the Take a Break feature will ask users to take a break from Instagram and suggest that they set reminders to take more breaks from the app. Talking about the new feature, Instagram Public Policy Manager Natasha Jog said, “The well-being of young people is important to us and we are focused on making sure that the time spent on Instagram is extra and allows people to learn more about new people. You can feel better with the feature.

Natasha Jog said, “With this we have launched 'Take a Break' to improve the experience on Instagram for young users and parents. Our goal is to continue our work towards creating a safe and helpful environment on Instagram so that young people can use it to discover their interests and discover communities.”

How will the Take A Break feature work?
The take a break feature will pop up every time users spend a lot of time on the app. Users will be asked to take breaks from Instagram and are suggested to set reminders to take more breaks in the future. Tips from experts to help them ban and reset will also be shown. To determine whether youth are aware of this feature, they will be shown notifications suggesting users to enable reminders for it.

In India, Take a Break will be promoted through a campaign with 'We the Young' (@wetheyoungindia), a youth focused community called 'Break Zaroori Hai'. The campaign will run for a month and will highlight situations where youth can make use of this feature. 'We the Young' will work with creators, mental health experts and other stakeholders to develop multi-language content that emphasizes the need to make informed decisions about time spent on the platform and allows users to 'take a break' Will notify you on ways to incorporate the feature into their social media routines.
