Mahindra is expected to expand the lineup of the XUV700 with the introduction of a new AX7 smart variant soon. It will be offered at a price lower than the high-end AX7 luxury trim. Whose waiting period is 84 weeks. It will come at a price tag of Rs 80,000 cheaper than the AX7 Luxury. Mahindra XUV700 was launched in August 2021.

Ever since it was opened for booking on 7 October 2021, it has received tremendous response. The waiting period for the XUV700 is already very long. The AdrenoX infotainment system-equipped variants like AX3, AX5 and AX7 have a waiting period of around eight months while the base MX trim comes with a waiting period of around seven months.

In the current model, the XUV700 is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder mStallion petrol and a 2.2-litre four-cylinder mHawk diesel. Both are mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

A customer booking either of the XUV700 variants can take delivery only till Diwali. The reason for the high waiting period is due to the lack of chips in the automotive industry. In such a situation, the arrival of the new XUV700 AX7 Smart variant can help in reducing the waiting time. It will have features like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).
