The Government of India is soon going to issue a new convention regarding the use of information or content. Regarding which the central government will make changes in the IT laws. So the same government said in an overarching statement that 'which plans to pay global Internet giants for independent news and publishing outlets' access to information. Regarding this, recently the Union Minister of State for IT and Electronics Rajiv Chandrashekhar said that 'the government wants big tech companies to pay news outlets for content. The same government is looking at big tech companies like Google, Meta (owner of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, Microsoft, Apple, Twitter and Amazon) to use Indian newspapers and digital news publishers to make a share of the revenue. Regarding these changes, Minister of State for IT and Electronics Rajiv Chandrashekhar further said that 'this step is being taken through regulatory interventions, which may be as part of amendment in existing IT laws. According to the same report, Minister Rajiv Chandrashekhar says that the market power over digital advertising which is currently being used by big tech giants puts Indian media companies at a disadvantage.
