Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga presented the budget for 2022-23 on Thursday. In this a total expenditure of Rs 14,008 crore has been proposed and also no new tax is proposed. He also presented a supplementary demand for grant of Rs 6,025.44 crore for the financial year 2021-22. Zoramthanga, who is also holding the Finance Ministry, said the state is facing severe financial crunch due to non-release of adequate share of taxes from the Centre.

Of the total expenditure of Rs 14,008 crore, 28.57 per cent has been earmarked for capital expenditure while the share of revenue expenditure is 71.43 per cent. He said that the Gross Domestic Product (GSDP) of the state is estimated at Rs 39,458.50 crore in 2022-23. This shows a growth of 16.76 per cent against Rs 33,793.15 crore in 2021-22.
