: Students returned from Ukraine can get a chance to complete their studies, the government has these options

The ongoing war between Russia-Ukraine has also affected thousands of Indian students studying medicine there. Most of the students have left Ukraine and many have been brought back to India safely by the government. Most of them are medical students. Now the education of these students is hanging in the balance, because when will these students go back and when will their studies be able to resume? It's hard to say right now.

Discussions are going on in the country whether the government can take any steps to complete the syllabus of these students. Can these medical students stay in India and complete their further studies in government and private institutions?

government is considering

The government may soon take a decision to facilitate the students who have not finished their courses, who have returned from Ukraine. It is expected that the government can make changes in the Foreign Medical Graduate Licensing (FMGL) Regulation Act-2021 in consultation with the National Medical Commission. According to reports, a meeting can also be held on this issue this week.

What is FMGL rule

As per the Foreign Medical Graduate Licensing (FMGL) Regulation Act-2021, a student of any foreign medical college is required to have permanent registration to practice in India. For permanent registration, students must have a minimum of 54 months of education and one year of internship. Only then can students clear the FMGE exam and get permanent registration for practicing in India.

Admission to other universities and institutions

There have been many such reports in which it is being said that the government is getting the data of the students returned from Ukraine. It is expected that by getting these students admitted in a university in India or any other country, it can complete the remaining course. However, these measures will be adopted when the situation in Ukraine is not returning to normal. If things return to normal in Ukraine soon, the students may be recalled.
