Dangerous landing of helicopter during Amarnath Yatra

A video of a helicopter crash landing during the Amarnath Yatra has surfaced. The helicopter flying very low had a dangerous landing on the Mahagunas top helipad, which is not a landing point. The incident of emergency landing took place on Tuesday, July 5, when the helicopter was going from Pahalgam to Panjtarni when its unscheduled landing was made.

No explanation or information has been given by the temple board about the incident. However, some experts said that the helicopter was either overloaded or the weather was not feasible for flight. The helipad on which the landing took place has not been approved by the DGCA. There is no report of any casualty in this accident.

The helipads used in the Amarnath Yatra are Neelgrath, Pahalgam and Panjtarni. The helipad has also been approved for this year's Amarnath Yatra after inspection by the civil aviation team. The yatra was also postponed the previous day. Pilgrims were not allowed to go towards the cave due to bad weather. Officials had said that the yatra has been temporarily stopped due to bad weather in Baltal and Pahalgam.
