Today is the last day of alcohol discount? Crowd at liquor contracts in Delhi

Delhi Liquor Discount: There is still confusion about whether the process of reduction in liquor prices and offers will continue in the capital Delhi. On Sunday, before the end of the month, even on a holiday, special discounts were given on liquor contracts in some areas of Delhi, due to which there was a huge rush of buyers at the liquor shops. More crowd was seen especially at the shops in the areas adjacent to the border.

One of the reasons behind the crowd gathering at liquor shops was that the discount would be available only till Monday. However, there is no official confirmation yet that the relaxation will continue only till February 28.

The number of dry days in Delhi has come down from 21 to 3
The Excise Department says that in the new policy, the vendor (contract operator) has the right to give a discount at any time period to increase its sales. If the shopkeepers feel that there is a need to increase sales even further, then they can give other offers including discount in prices.

In Delhi, the process of relaxation is going on for the last 20 days. At times the prices were discounted by 30 to 35 per cent. In the midst of this discount, both the number of customers and sales are increasing. On Sunday, relaxation was given on some contracts in Pitampura, Laxminagar, Badarpur Border, Shahdara, Mandoli and other areas. It is being told that out of 580 shops operating so far in Delhi, about one and a half hundred were given discount in prices.

It is worth noting that the Delhi government, under its new excise policy, has reduced the number of dry days (prohibition days) to just three from 21 days last year. An order issued by the Excise Department of the Delhi government had said that licensed liquor shops and 'opium' shops will remain closed on Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15) and Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. Earlier, the number of 'dry days' was 21, including the birth anniversary of great leaders and religious festivals.
