About 10 lakh posts lying vacant in central departments will be recruited

A large number of posts are lying vacant in the central departments of the country. This information was given by the Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh in the Lok Sabha. He said that till March 1, 2021, about 9.79 lakh posts were vacant in all the central departments and ministries of the country. The sanctioned posts for these departments and ministries are close to 40.35 lakhs.
Appointments will be done under continuous process
According to the annual report of the Pay Research Unit of the Department of Expenditure, there were 40,35,203 sanctioned posts in various Ministries/Departments of the Central Government as of March 1, 2021. Out of which about 9.79 lakh were vacant and about 30,55,876 were posted on the staff posts. Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh gave this information in the form of a written reply in the Lok Sabha. He also said that appointments to posts in central departments are the responsibility of the concerned department and it is a continuous process.
Vacant posts will be appointed in mission mode
Jitendra Singh said that vacancies in attached and subordinate offices with various ministries and departments of the central government arise due to retirement, promotion, resignation and death etc. During this, he requested the concerned Ministries and Departments to work in a mission mode to fill up the vacant posts in a time bound manner.
Significantly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently asked all government departments and ministries to make appointments on 10 lakh posts lying vacant in the next one and a half years. The Prime Minister had also instructed to do this entire recruitment process on mission mode. At the same time, while giving another information in the Lok Sabha, Jitendra Singh said that out of the total 30,87,278 employees posted in central departments till March 3, 2011, 3,37,439 are women employees.
