BSP MP Atul Rai acquitted in rape case of girl

BSP MP from Mau Atul Rai acquitted in the misconduct case. Atul Rai's lawyer Anuj Yadav and plaintiff's lawyer ADGC Jyoti Shankar have confirmed. The MP-MLA court of Varanasi on Saturday gave the verdict in the ongoing misconduct case against the MP. This rape case was going on against Atul Rai since 2019. He is lodged in Naini jail for about 36 months. The girl, who had accused Atul Rai of raping her, along with her friend had committed self-immolation before the Supreme Court in Delhi on August 16 last year. The girl with severe burns had died on August 24 and her partner had died before that. Before committing suicide, both of them had shared their pain on social media with people. The mother of the girl had said in a press conference that she wants the death penalty of Atul Rai, the MP responsible for her daughter's death. He said, 'My daughter was very talented and was preparing for the civil services exam. She must have become something or the other, but she has sacrificed her life in agony.
