Australia defeated the Indian team by three wickets in the 2022 Commonwealth Games women's cricket tournament played at Edgbaston, Birmingham. India had scored 154 for 8 in 20 overs after playing first. In response, the Australian team chased down the target in 19 overs with three wickets in hand. At one point Australia had lost their five wickets for just 49 runs in the eighth over. Then it seemed as if Team India would easily win this. But Ashley Gardner 52 not out and Grace Harris 37 turned the match around. Renuka Singh broke the back of Australia's top order with her lethal bowling. He dismissed Alyssa Healy for zero, Beth Mooney for 10, captain Meg Lanning for 08 and Tahila McGrath for 14. Renuka had dropped Australia's four wickets for 34 runs alone. Then Rachel Haynes was caught by Deepti Sharma for 09 runs. Ashley Gardner and Grace Harris did wonders after falling for five wickets for 49 runs. Both shared a 51-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Harris was dismissed for 37 runs in 20 balls. He hit five fours and two sixes. Australia lost their sixth wicket for 100 runs. Soon after, Jess Jonasson was also dismissed after scoring 03 runs and Team India once again made a comeback in the match.
However, after this Gardner took a rough form and did not give India a chance to return. She returned unbeaten on 52 runs in 35 balls with the help of 9 fours.
