India easily defeated West Indies in the first T20. The one player whose role was most important in this victory of Team India was Dinesh Karthik. On the wicket on which the rest of the Indian batsmen were struggling to score runs, Karthik batted at a fast pace and took Team India to a big score of 190 runs and laid the foundation for victory. He was the only batsman to score runs at a strike rate of more than 150 for India in this match. This was not the only match when Karthik finished the match for his team. Prior to this, he has played the role of match finisher in IPL 2022 against Royal Challengers Bangalore, then in the home T20 series against South Africa and now in West Indies. With this, he has strengthened his claim to play the role of match finisher in the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia.

Karthik is super heavy in finishing the match

Since the start of IPL 2022, Karthik has scored runs in T20 cricket at a strike rate of 210.91 in the death overs. Only Tim David (226.72) and James Neesham (220.45) have a better strike rate than Karthik among those who have played at least ten innings during this period. That is, Karthik is better than any Indian batsman in the death overs in T20 cricket.

Karthik made some technical changes in the batting
If we look at the first T20 match against West Indies, then the conditions and conditions were not in Karthik's favor. He was playing 14 runs in 10 balls at one time. After him, India did not have many options in batting. The wicket was slow and the ball was coming to a halt. But, Karthik did not stop. When Holder missed the yorker, Karthik went inside the crease and hit the ball with a strong shot and sent the ball across the midwicket boundary for a six.
