Indian women's table tennis team out

The Indian women's table tennis team lost to Malaysia in a dramatic quarter-final clash at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Saturday. The draw between Malaysia and India lasted until the last game of the last match, as Malaysia finally beat the champions of the 2018 Commonwealth Games Goldcoast 3-2. India did not have a good start in the quarterfinals as Karen Lin-Alice Chang defeated Reet Tennyson-Sreeja Akula 11-7, 11-6, 5-11, 11-6. Tennyson and Akula bounced back in the third game after losing the first two games despite a tough fight, but their defeat in the fourth game saw India trail 1–0. After this it was the responsibility of India's most experienced player Manika Batra to get the team back in the draw and she did it too. Batra defeated Ho Ying of Malaysia 11-8, 11-5, 8-11, 9-11, 11-3 in a five-game match. Ying tried to put pressure on Batra by winning the third and fourth games but Batra won the fifth game to level India 1-1 in the draw. Sreeja Akula then defeated Alice Chang in straight games 11-6, 11-6, 11-9 to give India a 2-1 lead, but in the fourth match, Manika Batra lost 6-11, 3- to Karen Lin. The draw ended in a 2-2 draw after an 11, 9-11 loss.
