Prices of Hyderabad's most preferred beverage 'Irani Chai' ☕ increased by Rs 5

Irani Chai  Hyderabad’s most preferred beverage now costs Rs 20 a cup. Most of the cafés and hotels across the city have now increased the price. With an increase in the rates of milk, tea powder, and sugar  the price of Irani chai also increased, said by hotel owners. The cost of zafrani tea also increased by Rs 5.

The well-known baker Abood Bin Aslam of Nimrah Café & Bakery says  “The increase in prices of fuel and commercial cooking gas too forced the price hike. Though some cafés and hotels have already increased the price, others may do it after Ramzan season,” any may hike the price next month. Another tea stall owner added that “To tide over the crisis, a hike was inevitable. It would be difficult for us if the prices of ingredients keep inflating,”and the price hike may not have much impact on the business even though some are unhappy with the increase.

Before the pandemic, a cup of Irani Chai used to come at Rs 10 and Rs 8 for the more popular single chai. In the year 2020 due to the financial crisis faced during the lockdown the price was hiked to Rs 15 a full cup.
