The responsibility of maintaining the waiting hall at Gorakhpur railway station has already been entrusted to a private firm. Now it is the turn of the inquiry counters and cloak rooms. At present, the Lucknow Divisional Administration has started the process of implementing the new system from August 1 in Lucknow Junction, Badshahnagar, Aishbagh, Sitapur, Mankapur, Gonda, Basti and Khalilabad in addition to Gorakhpur. The responsibility of cloakroom is now going to be handed over to private companies. From August 1, 2022, private personnel will start working at all the respective counters of the North Eastern Railway. But in order to keep on surrendering the posts and cutting down on the expenses, the North Eastern Railway Administration has started getting almost all the remaining works outsourced, except the important ones related to the operation of the station. According to experts, due to increase in outsourcing, the expenses of railways have come down. Even though the railway officials are monitoring the works, but there is always a possibility of safety being affected. There is anger among the employees due to non-availability of berths and rest rooms for the AC mechanics running in the trains. The North Eastern Railway Employees Union (PRKS) has met the Chief Chief Electrical Engineer and demanded to arrange for berths in trains and rest rooms at stations for AC mechanics. Union General Secretary Vinod Kumar Rai said that AC mechanics do not even get a place to sit in the train. Even after reaching the destination, they remain in the coach. There is no arrangement for their rest and no food. Work is also being affected due to this. Union officials were present on this occasion.
