Tomato trader fell victim to fake IT raid, miscreants carried out the robbery of 55 lakhs

Bangalore. A tomato trader in Karnataka became a victim of a fake raid by the Income Tax Department. Here the robbers cleared the cash of Rs 35 lakh and jewelery worth Rs 20 lakh from the businessman's house. Not only this, the accused intimidated the family members, threatened and tied them and fled. At present, the police has started investigating the matter. It is feared that some knowledgeable person has committed this crime.

According to the report, the matter is of Bayer Gowda Extension area of Kolar. Declaring themselves officers here, some people reached the house of tomato trader and former APMC president Ramesh. The accused told the family that they have orders to investigate the house. When the matter did not seem suspicious, Ramesh allowed the officers to enter the house, but later he got suspicious.

It is reported that 6 accused showed some files to the family members in the form of identification, in which CBI was mentioned. It was only after entering the house that the accused allegedly questioned the family members about money and other valuables. As part of the investigation, Ramesh, his wife and their son answered questions and shared information about where the money and jewels were kept.

However, when the miscreants started packing after collecting money, Ramesh got suspicious and questioned about the absence of police. After this, the miscreants threatened the family members with knives and tied the three with ropes in the worship room. After this they left after damaging the CCTV. On getting information about the incident, Kolas SP Devraj reached the spot and questioned Ramesh and his family members.

The report quoted sources as saying that Ramesh is a tomato trader and also does chit fund business. They allegedly brought around Rs 35 lakh from the office in a two-wheeler and kept them at home.
