Indian women's hockey team defeated Canada 3-2 in their last Group A match to make it to the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games 2022 Commonwealth Games on Wednesday. Salima Tete, Navneet for India Kaur and Lalremsiami scored a goal each while Brian Steyers and Hannah How scored for Canada. India started the do or die match strongly by converting a penalty corner in the third minute of the match. Gurjit Kaur missed the ball to the net, but Salima gave India a 1-0 lead. Navneet Kaur converted a Lalremsiami pass into the goal in the second quarter to give India a 2-0 lead, but then Canada returned to the match. While Steyers converted a penalty corner just before the end of quarter-2, Hannah How scored in the ninth minute of the third quarter to level the match at 2-2. Canada, who are ahead of India in matters, needed only a draw in the match, while India needed to win. India desperately needed a goal in the fourth quarter which Lalremsiami gave them. With nine minutes left in the fourth quarter, Lalremsiami converted a penalty corner and India won 3-2. Earlier in their Group A matches, India defeated Ghana (5-0) and Wales (3-). 1) while losing to England (1-3).
