The Chess Olympiad was initially scheduled to be held in Russia, but was shifted to Chennai after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Around 2500 players from 190 countries are participating in this tournament. The competition will run for 13 days and will end on August 10 after the champions are declared. In this, a record 188 teams are participating in the open category this time. However, chess giants China and Russia are not participating in the tournament this time.
