A total of 62 cases of swine flu have been reported in Mumbai and its surrounding region so far this year. These include cases found in neighboring Thane, Palghar and Raigad districts. A health official gave this information on Monday.Dr. Gauri Rathod, Deputy Director of Health Services (Mumbai Region) said that from January 1 to July 24, 2022, a total of 1,66,132 samples were tested, out of which 62 samples contained H1N1 influenza. The virus was confirmed. He said that two patients had died due to infection in Thane last week. These were the first cases of death due to H1N1 virus in Mumbai region this year. According to him, the health department is monitoring the current situation and all precautionary measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the infection. Citizens and doctors have been instructed to take precautions. He said that among those who lost their lives due to swine flu include Jyoti Raja Bajaj (51), a resident of Kopri area of Thane. She fell ill on 12 July, complained of fever, vomiting and cough and died on 18 July. At the same time, Babita Hate (72) of Kopri died on 19 July. She fell ill on July 9.
