WHO warns Covid is nowhere to be found

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Tuesday that fresh waves of Covid-19 cases show the pandemic "is not over anywhere". Tedros said at a news conference, "The new waves of the virus again show that Kovid-19 is not over yet and it is moving around." Along with this, he said, "As soon as the virus attacks us, we should also attack it fast."
The WHO chief suggested that governments should not only regularly review, but also organize, their COVID-19 plans based on the current epidemiology and the potential for new variants to emerge. "Governments should also work to re-accelerate the shortfall in surveillance, testing and sequencing, as well as effectively sharing anti-virals," he said. Pointing to the importance of vaccines to fight the virus, the WHO chief said, “Vaccines have saved millions of lives and it is vitally important for governments to promote the most vulnerable communities that have not been vaccinated. Focus on them, so that the immunity wall against the virus can be built towards achieving the target of 70% vaccination.
