legend of spring season
According to the legend, when Goddess Sati committed self-immolation by jumping into the Havan Kund of her father Daksha, Mahadev was very sad and sat in meditation in the separation of Sati. At that time, Tarakasura did penance to Lord Brahma and pleased him and asked for a boon that he should die only at the hands of Shiva's son. He knew that Shiva had gone into meditation in the separation of Sati. Neither it is possible to disturb their attention, nor can Shiva easily have a second marriage. Brahma ji granted him a boon.

After receiving this boon, he became very powerful. No one could have killed him even if he wanted to. In such a situation, he also started harassing the gods. Unhappy with this, all the gods reached Lord Vishnu, but they were also unable to kill Tarakasur because Tarakasur had a boon from Brahma. In such a situation, he suggested to the deities that they should somehow break the austerity of Mahadev and take the help of Kamadeva for this.

Then Kamadeva created the spring season to break the tenacity of Shiva. In this season cool and pleasant winds blow, new leaves start coming in the trees, yellow flowers start appearing in the mustard field, mango trees get blossom. In the season of spring, Kamdev rained arrows on Shiva. This broke Shiva's attention and he got angry. His third eye opened in anger, which consumed Kamadeva. After some time, when Mahadev's anger subsided, the gods told him why Kamadeva had to do this. After this, Kamadeva's wife Rati requested Mahadev to somehow revive Kamadeva.

Then Shiva gave a boon to Rati that in the Dwapara Yuga, Kamadeva would be born as Pradyumna, the son of Krishna. After some time Shiva was pleased with Parvati's penance and he got married with Mother Parvati. Kartikeya was born as the son of Shiva and Mother Parvati. Later it was Kartikeya who killed Tarakasura and saved the gods from his terror.
